What materials can you rotary engrave?

Rotary engraving can be used on wood, plastic, ABS, acrylics, and some metals. It is suitable for various materials since it generates minimal heat, allowing you to worry less about fumes, warping, and other issues. Additionally, it excels at creating permanent markings.

Creating ADA Signage with Rotary Materials

Creating ADA signage is an important task that requires careful consideration of design and materials. The materials you choose for creating ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) signage should be durable, matte, and provide contrast. Rotary materials are a great option!

• Choose Compliant Material: Look for the icon indicating a material is tactile and ADA compliant. A popular option is Rowmark's ADA alternative.
• Ensure High Contrast: ADA guidelines require signage to have a high contrast between the text and background. This can be achieved by selecting materials with contrasting colors or by using paint fill in engraved areas.
• Use Braille: To be ADA compliant, signs should feature Grade 2 Braille, so you should ensure your rotary engraver has the capability to create precise Braille dots. If you want to create Braille but don't have a rotary tool, consider adding a rotary tool to your shop.
• Follow Font and Size Requirements: Research the font requirements in your specific location and make sure your sign complies.
